How is Dermal Filler treatment performed and how long do treatments take?

The actual treatment itself is very brief.
Receiving Dermal Filler can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour. This all depends on the amount of the area that needs to be treated. During the treatment, tiny amounts of gel injected into the skin by using a very fine needle.
For wrinkles, when the Dermal Fillers are injected, this provides natural volume under the wrinkle, which lifts it up and smooths it out.
For facial contours, the fillers correct deep folds and lift up the skin from cheeks and chin. This provides a fuller shape for the chin and a rounder, more sensual line along the cheeks.
When using Dermal Fillers for lip augmentation, the gel is injected into the inside of the upper or lower lip. It is also injected along the lip line to define lip contour. Not only will this help bring about a more youthful look, it can also help prevent lipstick from bleeding into the small lines around the lips.

What to expect during procedure?
- Dermal filler is administered via a syringe, or injection, into the areas of the face sought to be filled with the Hyaluronic Acid to eliminate or reduce the wrinkles and folds.
- Numbing cream can be used to reduce the discomfort of the injection.
- The treatment site is washed first with an antiseptic solution.
- Dermal Filler is a clear transparent gel that is injected under your skin into tissue of your face using a thin gauge needle. The depth of the injections will depend on the depth of your wrinkles and its locations.
- Multiple injections might be made depending on the site, depth of the wrinkle and technique used.
- Following injections your injector will gently massage the correction site to conform to the contour of the surrounding tissues.
- Ice may be applied on the site for a short period of time to reduce possible swelling.
What can I expect after the treatment?
The results of fillers injections can be seen immediately following treatment.
- Redness and swelling are normal and can last up to few hours.
- You may experience some tenderness at the treatment site(s) that can last for a few hours or a few days.
- Depending upon the area(s) treated and product(s) used, you may feel “firmness” in the treated area(s) for 1 to 2 weeks after treatment. Over time, the area(s) will soften and “settle”.
Bruising is known as a common side effect. Some research shows that it happens in about 19% to 24% of patients. But another studies state that the figure can be high as 68%. The parts with the most visible signs of aging may bruise after the injections. They include the tear troughs, under the eyes, upper lips area and marionette lines (sad lines beside the mouth). Thankfully, there are a lot of things that can decrease the likelihood of this happening.
How to prevent bruising?
2 weeks prior your procedure, watch the medications you take. These medications can affect the way your body responds to dermal filler treatment. Some medications like blood thinners prevent your blood from clotting. As a result, it increases the possibility of bruising. Before Dermal fillers injections make sure to stop taking NSADs like Naproxen, Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin).
Stay away from food substances and supplements that act as natural blood thinners:
- Vit E
- Ginger
- Garlic
- Green tea
- Fish oil and Omega 3
- Avoid Alcohol
- Taking ARNICA for 4 days before Dermal fillers injections and 4 days after may prevent bruising. ARNICA is homeopathic medication, used to treat muscle soreness, bruising and other minor issues.
You can place 4-pills under your tongue, 3 times a day.
