PRP FAQ
Healthy skin is in your blood!
Beauty Medical Clinic provides the best Platelet Rich Plasma for skin improvement and enhancement of hair loss in Toronto. And there is some information we would like to share with you:
One of the latest trends is a trademarked cosmetic procedure called the “Vampire Facelift”, which was designed and trademarked by Dr. Charles Runels of Alabama.
Technically, it’s not a facelift. It’s a designer cosmetic procedure that combines injectable Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, such as Juvederm, Restylane and Emervel with what many call a “natural’ fountain of youth” — components of your own blood.
Syringe filled with your blood is placed in a machine called a centrifuge and spun at high speed. The centrifuge separates red blood cells from plasma — a golden yellow liquid known as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). The plasma contains white blood cells and platelets, which are rich in growth factors.
The platelets are specialized cells designed to stop bleeding, heal tissues, and generate growth factors to reinvigorate the body.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is used to target and heal damaged tissue(s).
PRP is FDA approved for use in orthopedic surgery, but more and more it’s being used for non-surgical procedures.
Many people, including professional and weekend athletes, get PRP injections to help heal and repair tennis elbow, tendonitis, and arthritis. And now, PRP is being used cosmetically to help fight the visible signs of aging. The rationale? First, the PRP actually helps stimulate the collagen.
Second, Platelets Rich Plasma treatment helps the circulation, and that’s why you get that immediate kind of rosy glow.As well Platelets Rich Plasma helps tighten, smooth and improve skin tone.
PRP stimulates cell growth for more youthful, longInjectable fillers give initial volume and er lasting results.
-Can you combine PRP with different treatment?
Absolutely. We combine PRP treatment with microneedling.
Microneedling is exactly what it sounds like – a procedure that creates a series of tiny, superficial punctures using sterile needles. Both PRP and microneedling stimulate collagen growth and are more effective when done together. We attack the problem in two layers: beneath the skin and on top of it.
The PRP treatment is a gradual process, so don’t worry if you don’t see any immediate results – it can take four weeks for results to become apparent, with improvements seen around the six to 12-week mark. Most people report looking more refreshed and youthful, with a noticeable improvement in skin tone and texture. Overall, the results can last 12+ months.
The PRP procedure is safe for almost everyone, but there are still contraindications you should know about.
The following medical conditions are a contraindication for use of PRP:
- Critical thrombocytopenia (low platelet count)
- Haemodynamic instability (collapse)
- Sepsis (infection)
- Acute and chronic infections.
- Chronic liver disease.
- Anti-coagulation therapy(warfarin, dabigatran, heparin).
- Cancer
- Corticosteroid treatment
